Installation

Supported Servers

SculWave supports the following server software:

  • Paper
  • Purpur
  • Pufferfish
  • Spigot
  • Folia

Network Installation

⚠️ Important

SculWave is not a Velocity plugin. Install SculWave on every backend Minecraft server in your network, including servers where voice is disabled.

For example, a Velocity network may contain these backend servers:

Velocity
├── Lobby
├── Survival
├── Skyblock
└── Minigames

Install the SculWave plugin on each backend server listed above.

Setup Steps

  1. Download the latest SculWave plugin.
  2. Copy it into each server's plugins folder.
  3. Start every server once so the plugin can generate its configuration.
  4. Edit the generated configuration.
  5. Restart the servers.

Configuration

Config File

The main configuration includes these settings:

activation-key: ""
voice-enabled: true
voice-bans: []

activation-key

Every server in the same network must use the same activation key. This links all backend servers into a single SculWave network.

activation-key: YOUR_NETWORK_KEY

voice-enabled

Enable or disable voice chat for a specific server. Players automatically disconnect from voice while visiting disabled servers and reconnect when entering voice-enabled servers.

# Lobby
voice-enabled: false

# Survival
voice-enabled: true

Room Codes

Each backend server receives its own unique room code. Players only need to connect once—SculWave automatically transfers them into the correct voice room when moving between servers.

Group Chat

Groups allow players to communicate regardless of distance. Players can invite others, transfer ownership, and automatically sync across the network.

Group Features

  • Player invitations
  • Automatic group creation
  • Ownership transfer
  • Member kicking
  • Automatic ownership migration
  • Real-time synchronization

Joining a Network

SculWave helps players discover and join publicly listed networks without having to manually track down a room code.

Discover Networks

The network discovery list can show details such as:

  • Network name, logo, and banner
  • Supported platforms and game version
  • Region and availability

Select a network to retrieve its current active room code and continue through the existing room-joining flow.

Joining a Network

  1. Open network discovery in the SculWave client.
  2. Choose the network you want to join.
  3. Use the displayed room code to join through the existing room-joining flow.

The room code is also shown on the network discovery card and can be copied. Manual room-code joining remains available.

If a Network Is Unavailable

A network can be listed even when it does not currently have an active voice session. If that happens, the client should explain that the session is unavailable and let you try again later.

Benefits

  • Find publicly listed networks in one place
  • Review network information before joining
  • Copy room codes instead of retyping them
  • Continue using manual room-code joining when preferred
  • See availability before attempting to connect

Voice Moderation

Administrators can permanently restrict players from using voice chat through voice bans.

  • Voice bans persist across server restarts.

  • Voice bans can be removed at any time.

Multi-World Support

Voice chat only works between players in the same world. This keeps conversations isolated across multi-world servers.
